EDUCATION PROVIDER PROGRAM (EPP)

Not all showerheads are created equal. This course will take you on a journey that shows the evolution of the modern bathroom and technological advancements through the years. Participants will learn how the modern shower system is affected by limited water resources and government regulations in certain parts of the world and be able to distinguish between water efficient products versus ones that simply save water.

This CEU will provide an overview of water resources and will explain why it’s so important that we protect our supply of usable water for use in the future. 

Keeping a building watertight across every condition, from the roof to the foundation wall, requires more than good materials. It demands a coordinated approach to selecting, detailing, and specifying systems that work together as one continuous enclosure. This course examines waterproofing technologies across roofing, above-grade walls, traffic-bearing decks, and below-grade applications, exploring how each performs in its specific context and how proper transition detailing keeps the entire system unified. Participants gain a working understanding of specification coordination and learn how to eliminate the technical gaps that most often compromise building performance and the well-being of occupants.

Discover how wayfinding shapes movement and experience in any space, with flooring as a powerful design tool. Participants will learn how color, pattern, texture, and material transitions can guide movement, enhance accessibility, and support user confidence while meeting WELL v2 and LEED v5 standards. Real-world examples and human-centered insights provide strategies for designing spaces that are intuitive, engaging, and supportive of occupants.

Municipalities are increasingly being tasked with incorporating stringent and more effective stormwater management methods into the built environment. In major urban environment this increasingly means utilizing the rooftop or on structure spaces to meet these requirements. This creates a paradigm shift for membrane specifiers, from trying to shed water from the roof to holding storm water on the roof. In this presentation we will discuss the unique challenges to rooftop stormwater management, identify some of the tools utilized with these applications and how they can be incorporated into some of the overburden assemblies we already specify like vegetated roofs and amenity decks, and how to implement these strategies utilizing real world examples. The primary audience is roofing/waterproofing specifiers, with a goal of having greater familiarity and comfort with these systems. 

This course delves into the advantages of customizing door hardware and integrating smart locks in residential projects with a focus on enhancing overall occupant experience and ensuring their utmost care. Explore the principles of the WELL building standard and ADA compliance, which contribute to heightened sensory experiences and improved overall quality of life for occupants. Gain insights into the intricacies of door hardware personalization and smart lock technology, learning how to seamlessly integrate these features into personalized hardware environments that prioritize the well-being, safety, and comfort of end users.

Pigments serve many functions in paint other than supplying color. Characteristics such as durability, hide, gloss, and fading are influenced by the choice of pigment. This course explores how color choices affect the appearance and performance of architectural paints. We will discuss the types of pigments used in architectural paints, how paint is tinted, and how the choice of pigments and colorants influence factors such as hide, gloss, fading, durability, and price.

This presentation will provide information about the concepts of wind design, building code requirements for determining the loads acting on a building, test methods used to determine wind resistance of roof assemblies, and where to located Approval Listings for tested roof assemblies (FM, UL, DORA), as well as edge metal used for roof systems. This presentation will also demonstrate a code-approved wind-uplift resistance test method. 

This course delves into the integration of wood specialty ceilings in commercial buildings, exploring pre-engineered systems and a range of finishes. Participants will assess how aesthetic choices impact overall performance, safety, and durability in various designs. Key performance attributes, including acoustics, fire resistance, plenum accessibility, seismic resilience, sustainability, and installation ease, will be examined. The course also addresses the distinctions between solid and veneer wood panels, considering their visual impact, performance characteristics, lead times, and financial considerations, providing participants with a thorough understanding of wood specialty ceiling systems for designs that excel in both form and function.

This CEU expands on knowledge about the WELL Building Standard beyond just comprehension. It shares relevant applications of the concepts of the WELL Building Standard within actual buildings. It will allow designers to better comprehend implementation.

This course will explore recent trends in smart home technology for residential construction with a specific focus on windows and doors. We will look at the wide range of options available to architects designing a smart home, and how these choices can impact the health, safety,well-being, and peace of mind of the occupants. Lastly, we will discuss how architects can incorporate home automation into their design process and how collaboration with smart home integrators can be beneficial to the entire project team.
