Course Description: CEU Events: Waterproofing Systems: Performance Across the Building Enclosure
Keeping a building watertight across every condition, from the roof to the foundation wall, requires more than good materials. It demands a coordinated approach to selecting, detailing, and specifying systems that work together as one continuous enclosure. This course examines waterproofing technologies across roofing, above-grade walls, traffic-bearing decks, and below-grade applications, exploring how each performs in its specific context and how proper transition detailing keeps the entire system unified. Participants gain a working understanding of specification coordination and learn how to eliminate the technical gaps that most often compromise building performance and the well-being of occupants.
Analyze the critical role of whole-building enclosure continuity for building performance.
Identify appropriate waterproofing technologies for various above- and below-grade scenarios.
Apply robust detailing strategies for transitions between above-grade and below-grade systems.
Develop clear specifications that facilitate coordination and eliminate technical gaps.
