Course Description: CEU Events: Designing Calm: Prioritizing Well-being in the Interior Environment
This CEU from Momentum Textiles shall explore how design strategies grounded in sensory responsiveness, nature-informed science, and intentional material and color use can improve human health and well-being in the built environment. Drawing from emerging research in neuroscience, environmental psychology, and biophilic design, the course shall examine how elements such as acoustics, fractal-based patterns, color, and texture can reduce stress, support cognitive performance, and foster inclusive, restorative spaces.
Explain how neuroscience and environmental psychology influence human responses to the built environment, including stress, focus, inclusivity and overall well-being.
Identify the role of biophilic and sensory design principles in creating restorative, inclusive spaces, with emphasis on complexity, order, and multi-sensory engagement.
Describe the science of fractals and their proven benefits, including measurable impacts on stress reduction, cognitive performance, and inclusivity.
Apply the learned design principles in the seminar through textiles, wallcoverings, and acoustic materials, providing actionable strategies for everyday specification in workplaces, hospitality, and healthcare.
